Open Call for Irish Artists & Writers: What Is Truth? Does Truth Really Exist?

An Chéad Tine Art Gallery is delighted to announce an open call for artists and writers of all disciplines for an upcoming group exhibition exploring the nature of truth, subjectivity, and lived experience.

This exhibition invites creatives working across any medium to submit work that questions authenticity and challenges fixed narratives.

A Contemporary Exploration of Truth in Art

Titled “What is truth? Does truth really exist?”, the exhibition draws inspiration from the uncompromising and deeply personal approach of Tracey Emin, whose work continues to resonate through its emotional honesty and fearless self-examination.

As Emin herself reflects:

“What is truth? Truth doesn't really exist. Who is going to judge whether my experience of an incident is more valid than yours? No one can be trusted to be the judge of that.”

We are seeking work that embraces vulnerability, personal mythology, emotional realism, and the act of making itself. Whether your practice is quiet or confrontational, conceptual or visceral, we encourage you to apply.

Curatorial Team

The exhibition is curated by Mary Doyle Burke, with co-selection by artists PJ O’Connell and Marco Di Sante, bringing together diverse perspectives within contemporary Irish practice.
