As part of our ongoing public programme of talks, An Chéad Tíne Art Gallery is delighted to present an evening with Archaeologist and Folklorist Paddy Doyle, in response to our current exhibition "Teach Allais (Irish Sweathouse)"

Thank you to all who joined us for the opening of Teach Allais at An Chéad Tine. We’re deeply grateful to Regina Fitzpatrick for her opening words, and to Darren Francis Caffrey for a powerful performance. This group exhibition explores artists’ responses to Ireland’s ancient sweathouses – spaces of fire, ritual and renewal. Runs ’til 2nd August, Tues–Sat, 11am–5pm, on the mezzanine of Dunnes, Kieran St, Kilkenny.

An Chéad Tine Art Gallery invites artists to submit proposals for our Summer exhibition titled “Teach Allais” – Irish Sweathouses. These ancient structures, known as teach allais in the Irish language, meaning "house of sweat," are the traditional saunas of Ireland.
